Because this is my site, the bio link at the top of the page goes to my biography written by Steven Forrest. He wrote that bio for the release of my solo piano cd, North Carolina - a State of Music that came out in 1999. He is a master writer and one of the world's leading astrologers.

The Zippers!! Everyone knows the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Of course I had just played on the Katharine Whalen's Jazz Squad cd and toured with them just before my cd came out. So it was a pretty easy slide right into the Zippers line-up in the fall of 2000. The addition of Tim Smith and Dave Wright to the band definitely kicked it up a notch or six. The music and musicians were very hot and in the zipper tradition, we had a great, great time playing together. The tours were very exciting for me. After having been a professional musician for so many years, it was thrilling to play large. We played in some very beautiful venues all over the country as well as doing the talk shows of Regis and Conan. From Boston to Miami and from San Diego to Seattle, we seriously covered some territory. Talk about enthusiastic fans. It was wonderful to get that kind of reception everywhere. A big time for me! Since that time I've been working with my good friends Chuck Leonard and Carter Minor. So it was inevitable that we would record a cd together. One party and a few good mics later, we found ourselves with an excellent live recording. We didn't think we could continue listing all of our names for every event, so it was time for a group name - Blue Spot in C minor. And since the party was at the magic land of Seven Paws, the cd is christened Live at Seven Paws. As well as my other gigs with Katharine Whalen's Big Band and the Carolina Club in Chapel Hill, I'll be out and about with my brothers, Blue Spot in C minor. So be on the the lookout for the Spot. That's me hiding between keys.
