Carter Minor

Carter Minor is a local hero. No we don't have any nationally known big names to drop here and we don't need to. Carter's father was a jazz pianist and he certainly passed on the amazing gene. That gene allowed Carter to get up in the middle of the night to come downstairs and sing, joining the grown-up musicians. He was six.

He never stopped singing. After listening to Carter for a few bars, it's so obvious that he is a natural. But unlike a lot of vocal talents, Carter sings from the heart and you always feel the song was just for you and it's personal.

Somewhere along the way Carter picked up up the bass and the harmonica. He is certainly the premiere harp player in North Carolina. Who else can take a simple blues harp and make it sound like a horn blowing through the jazz changes of Ellington, Gershwin and Cole Porter. Just listen to some of the sound clips on this site.

Carter sang and worked his way through high school and college. After college he just continued giging non-stop. So twenty years later, without any big name credits, Carter is simply an artist of the highest order, inspiring a new generation of musicians
- a local artist, a local hero.
